Leionie

Hi everyone
My name is Leionie, and I am proud to be one of the Directors of The Beauty Project.
For over ten years I have worked in safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children and young people. My journey began in 2014 within a residential children’s home, where I progressed to Assistant Manager, before completing my Social Work degree in 2019.
From there, I gained valuable experience across schools, within Oldham Council’s Children’s Assessment Team, and later as a Clinical Case Manager supporting children and adults with life-changing injuries.
While these roles gave me strong professional foundations, I often found myself missing the part of the work I loved most: directly engaging with young people. I am at my best when I am working face-to-face, helping them overcome challenges, build confidence, and realise their potential. That passion was one of the driving forces behind establishing The Beauty Project — a space where young people can not only learn skills but also believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Alongside my social care background, I have always had a strong interest in the beauty industry. After qualifying in Beauty Therapy in 2018, I continued my professional development in advanced treatments and aesthetics. This personal interest has evolved into something much bigger — a way of combining my safeguarding expertise with my love for the beauty industry to create opportunities for others.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new creative projects, and finding inspiration in the everyday moments that remind me why I chose this path. If I’m honest, this is the first role where I feel completely aligned with both my skills and my passions — I not only love what I do, but I feel incredibly privileged to make a real difference in the lives of the young people we work with.
I enjoy every aspect of my job, which really speaks volumes as nothing is ever inconvenient ... and the best thing about it ? i don't actually see what i do as a job.
